Summary

I’m a communications specialist who was recognised in 2017 as one of the North’s top 50 in-house communicators. 
With over 18 years’ experience of corporate reputation management, public affairs, marketing and stakeholder engagement, I am now available to support other ambitious companies with their internal and external communications challenges.
Effective under pressure, I consider myself an inspiring leader, team player and relationship-builder. A member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), I’m politically aware, commercially astute and professionally well-connected.

    Built a suite of internal communications channels to improve engagement with 5,000 dispersed employees.

    Project managed the commercialisation of the in-house Training Academy to introduce a new revenue stream.

    Most senior Communications Advisor to the Executive and Non-Executive board to this £1bn organisation of 10,000 employees, providing counsel on all matters of reputation management.
    Led, managed and motivated a dispersed team of 120 people to deliver the external and internal communications strategy, with a £6.7m budget.
    Project managed a transformation change programme to reduce communications headcount and move to an advisory ‘business partner’ service across the whole of Defra.
    Delivered insight-led campaigns to change behaviour, such as Flood Awareness and the revenue generating £4m Rod Licence campaign, using digital and customer focussed delivery channels.
    Led the communications response for unprecedented Winter 2015 flooding events, managing global media interest, chairing cross-Government briefings and partner meetings to maintain public confidence.
