OVERVIEW
All organisations with 250+ employees are required to report the overall gender pay gap between men and women from April 2017. The report  will need to be completed annually and results published on both the organisation’s website and a dedicated Government website, which means that the information is accessible to all.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EQUAL PAY AND GENDER PAY GAP
Equal Pay deals with  pay differences between men and women who carry out work for equal value.  The Gender Pay Gap shows the difference in the average pay between men and women.

IF I DON’T NEED TO REPORT UNTIL APRIL 2018, WHY LOOK AT THIS NOW?
Proactive, employee centric businesses will want to be review this topic and communicate with their employees.  Gender Pay Gap Reporting is topical at the moment and as we move through 2017 employees and customers are likely to become interested in this information.

Customers and Employees may both wonder why businesses would delay reporting and not be proactive in providing the information and addressing any concerns the data might raise.
